In this talk Maeve demonstrates by way of examples how the Cancelled or Revision Books of the Valuation Office in Dublin can be used to progress genealogical research on Irish families. This resource is of particular help to researchers when a surname is common within a county or civil parish. These books contain amendments made in various coloured pens and pencils.

Maeve Mullin

Maeve is a Director of Ancestor Network Ltd and is professional Dublin based genealogist with a qualification in Genealogy from University College Dublin. Maeve has been a member of the Ancestor Network Ltd Genealogy Advice team in the National Archives, The National Library and the Kerry Genealogy Roadshow. In October 2013 Maeve co-ordinated two week long Genealogy Seminars in Monaghan and Carrickmacross in association with Ancestor Network. This included researching the ancestry of Dr. Ruth Adler, Australian Ambassador to Ireland who has Monaghan roots. A native of Glaslough, Co. Monaghan her own family research has led her on a journey through counties Monaghan, Cavan, Tyrone, Cork, Tipperary, Limerick and Kilkenny.
