It's been hard keeping it all under wraps. As 2014 is the centenary of the First World War, we will have a dedicated workshop theatre focusing on the First World War and a military area helping you discover more about your ancestors who lived in this time of conflict. We're so excited that the Imperial War Museum will be at the show launching their new project Lives of the First World War. They will be asking for everyone to help them to create a living memory of those who served in the conflict for future generations. Many of us may not have lived through the World Wars, however the impact of these will have effected us all.

We are really happy to announce John Simpson's appearance at the show after having to keep it quiet until now. His wonderful episode of Who Do You Think You Are? went behind the true story of his families past, unearthing a shocking discovery. John's story reminds us, that sometimes the most interesting stories in life are true!

On the approach to the show, each of the team will be taking over the blog to bring you their personal perspective of the backstage running of the show. This year the team has expanded with many new faces so, over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing the team to give you an idea of what it takes to bring the show to live.

This week, it’s the turn of the marketing team, which is headed by Annie (Genealogy Events icon) and myself, Mark. We are responsible for the ticket management, advertising, website and the most exciting element, the social media. You may wonder why we say this but it gives us instant feedback and helps us to gauge your reactions, suggestions and opinions.   We know that your enthusiasm for the show has helped us make it what it is today and keeps us working to make the show better and better each year.
