I’m Tamara, the Operations Manager on Who Do You Think You Are? Live, and this is my first year working on this particular event. I’m really excited on how plans are developing and how the show is looking.

My main role is to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day. I make sure all exhibitor stands have the correct fascia and the exhibitors are happy with all the arrangments. I also like to be sure the visitors have a great experience at the Show so I ensure there are plenty of places to stop for a cup of tea and talk about your findings!

You could say I am the ‘Behind the Scenes Go-between’ pulling all the departments together prior to the event so we all work hand in hand and everyone gets the best from their trip to Olympia in February.

This week, I have been working with Wall to Wall Productions securing celebrities for this year’s workshops – we are so lucky that John Simpson has signed up to appear on the Thursday of the show and he has a great story to tell.  By looking at the number of tickets that have been sold so far for the Thursday, John is certainly proving popular.

I’ve also been working on logistical elements such as carpet colour and lighting within the hall – it’s not all glamour and celebrities!

I’m off to Olympia this weekend to check out the BBC Good Food Show as I love to see what other Event Organisers do well. It's also a great opportunity for me to learn from other people's mistakes.  Trips like this help me to develop Who Do You Think You Are? Live to be the best show ever!
